We are saddened to announce that Professor Allan Sampson passed away on January 30, 2021. Allan was a driving force in establishing our department, and he served as its founding Chair from 1997 to 2000. Since that time, he remained an active researcher, teacher, mentor to many students and faculty, and a cherished colleague. We miss him dearly.
