During his tenure at the academy, he also served as director of research, statistics division chief, and calculus division chief. In addition, he spent a year as an adjunct professor at Colorado Technical University.

Education:

  • PhD, operations research with an emphasis on probability and statistics, University of Texas, 1992
  • MS, operations research (distinguished graduate), Air Force Institute of Technology, 1983
  • BA, mathematics with a minor in statistics, West Virginia University, magna cum laude, 1980

Teaching Interests:

  • Bodenschatz is director of Pitt’s Undergraduate Statistics Program and had developed the minor in applied statistics, the writing-intensive course for statistics majors, and the joint economics-statistics major.

Quote:

“I served 20 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. For part of that time, I taught math and statistics courses at the U.S. Air Force Academy. I have done research on the H-function, a very general special function.”

Teaching:

  • Statistics and probability for business management
  • Statistical quality control
  • Linear regression
  • Applied nonparametric statistics
  • Quantitative methods of operations research
Spring 2006:
  • Statistics 1221
  • Statistics 1223
Spring 2007:
  • Statistics 1000
