Kiran Nihlani is a Teaching Assistant Professor and an undergraduate Academic Advisor in the Department of Statistics at University of Pittsburgh. Before joining Pitt, she completed her PhD from NC State University in 2020. During her Masters and Doctoral studies, she focused on non-parametric methods of calculating financial risk measures and concepts of network analysis for financial markets. In addition to her teaching and service duties, she works as a consulting statistician on projects with UPMC and other clients.
As a Teaching Assistant Professor, Kiran believes in creating an inclusive, active learning environment so students can appreciate the scope of the specific content as well as the field of statistics and the interdisciplinary connections.
